first thing first, i'm not really big into religion. I would prolly be the last person to walk into a church by my own free will. Sad? maybe, but it's my choice http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif I give both evolution *sorry sister taffy* and creation a fair chance, but that's another topic. but as i was working on someone's pc today, i continue to read this on her wall ... and i enjoyed it enough to share with all of u. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

And God Said No
by Claudia Minden Weisz

I asked God to take away my pride,
And God said, "No."

He said it was not for Him to take away,
But for me to give up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole,
And God said, "No."

He said her Spirit is whole,
Her body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience,
And God said, "No."

He said that patience is a byproduct of tribulation,
It isn't granted, it's earned.

I asked God to give me happiness,
And God said, "No."

He said He gives blessings,
Happiness is up to me.

I asked God to spare me pain,
And God said, "No."

He said, "Suffering draws you apart from the
wordly cares and brings you closer to Me."

I asked God to make my spirit grow
And God said, "No."

He said I must grow on my own,
But He will prune me to make me fruitful.

I asked God to help me love others,
As much as He loves me,

And God said,
"Ah, finally, you have the idea."

Claudia Minden Weisz's conversation was overheard by social workers who placed her in protective custody where she now plays SCRABBLE and recieves regular doses of medication to make her normal.

I don't mean to make light of this but the reality is that people with virtue are seen as freaks or cult followers. That passage, no matter your beliefs of lack thereof, reflect a philosophy to which more people should adhere.

Whether or not there is a God or Allah (choose a name), we should never expect a miraclulous event that will save us from our own weaknesses. When all is said and done, strength comes from within. We can either wait for good things to happen to us or make them happen on our own. Hopefully others will be affected by the good stuff that happens to us instead of the crap.

Thanks, VenoM. Good words. Well taken.

Mind if I quote lyrics? Tough.

Waiting for the winds of change to sweep the clouds away.

Waiting for the rainbow's end to cast its gold your way.

Countless ways you pass the day.

Waiting for someone to come and turn your world around.

Looking for an answer to the questions you have found.

Looking for an open door.

You don't get something for nothing.
You can't have freedom for free.
You won't get wise with the sleep still in your eyes no matter what your dream might be.

Thanks to Neil Peart for burning that into my memory.

Great contributions in this topic. Thanks for posting it. If only everyone could feel that way this world would be so much better.

I have to go and cry now -- tears for those lost in the sea of self.

Siter T, your tears are shared.

If I may,

"What you own is your own kingdom.

What you do is your own glory.

What you love is your own power.

What you live is your own story.

In your hand is the answer. Let it guide you along.

Let your heart be the anchor and the beat of your song."

Again, Peart.

I can only hope that it helps.
