Yeah, I know. I'm repeating myself. I HATE repeating myself but sometimes it's necessary to repeat myself myself.

PGP is an acronym for "Pretty Good Protection". That's an understatement.

PGP is an encryption package (free) that allows you to choose who can read what you write.

For instance, anyone with PGP and the correct passPHRASE can decrypt the following.

In this case, the passphrase is:

done

-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----
Version: PGPfreeware 6.5.8 for non-commercial use <http://www.pgp.com>

qANQR1DDDQQDAwJGidfMhaUgb2DJRz0p0RxBAyusRCur4ECDrhaM+geASEnEjf7i
GteoamIIOiWdXntWExwJvQL32VWZT17ZdiPhEEg1KkSX+NhV34fJISYBLxjE
=svD4
-----END PGP MESSAGE-----

By sharing public keys, you can direct a message to a particular individual or group.

Be warned, though: The package is over 7 megs but it's well worth the time and space (there I go again)

If you can't get it from the link above, the international site is located at http://www.pgpi.org/

Decrypt the message above for my contact info.

Learn, dammit!

Well then TEACH me something!

In fact, here's a task I thought of for you while driving.

You know all those RW threads that pop up on SPF?

I was gonna try to post a sample from Godsmack's "Voodoo" as a background sound but I didn't think it was appropriate for ME to do it.

Voodoo:

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snakebite enter my veins.
Never did I want to be here again
And I don't remember why I came.

Must be your guns.

So, you gonna teach me how to find a "Voodoo" wav and show me the html or not?

I had to post the lyrics from memory. Is that a breach of copyright?

Sleep soon for me.

Weellll. Let's see here...

<bgsound src="http://wdvl.com/Multimedia/Sound/Audio/bark.au" loop=6>

Whoops! Shit. HTML off.

Hey! This has nothing to do with PGP!

The offer above is still open for all who may be interested.

If you can guess the last part of the phase its always then you have the pass needed to decrypt this. Hint: three numbers, its a police code for seeing someone get high.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

I'm bringing this back to the top for a couple of reasons. Mainly I'd
like you people to get used to putting your email in an "envelope"
instead of sending on a "postcard".

EA has been good enough to indulge me and we've worked out a way to
verify each other's public keys. I'm so sure that any message
encrypted with his key actually comes from him that I've added my
signature to his key. Anyone who trusts my judgement can be assured
that his key is completely valid. Both of our keys have been sent to
the main keyserver.

If you'd like me to verify the integrity of your key, follow these
steps:

1. Load PGPkeys from the PGP icon in your tray

2. Click on your key

3. Click "Edit" and select "Copy". This copies your PUBLIC key to the
clipboard.

4. Paste the contents of your clipboard in an email message to
koliedrus@yahoo.com and send

5. Repeat steps 1 and 2 (skip 1 if it's already loaded

6. Click "Keys" in the PGPkeys menu bar

7. Select "Properties" (last submenu option)

This window will provide you with information about your key. The
"fingerprint" is used to verify that the key has not been tampered
with during transmission. If the fingerprint on your system matches
the one on mine, it's valid.

8. With your fingerprint on screen or paper, call 1-800-699-2466
(1-800-MY-YAHOO)

9. My mailbox # is 565-433-7871 (KOLIEDRUS1 on your phone's keypad)

10. Read off your fingerprint. Your fingerprint can be viewed in hex
format or as a list of words. Use whichever you prefer.

If everything matches up, I'll sign your key and send it back to you.

NOTE: This process will show others that *I* am sure that your key
belongs to you. My signature on a key is by no means meant to attest
to the integrity of the owner. If I was sure that my Mother's key was
hers, I would sign it. If Charles Manson sent me a key and I could
confirm it as his, I would sign. If you see my signature on a key,
I've done my best to confirm that the owner is truly who they say
they are.

'nuff said. Any questions?

At the moment I write this, I have access to 7 email accounts. Two accounts are full AOL access. Believe me, if I can read other's email, they can do the same...just how many places have you given your passwords to? Never know...maybe Stile wasn't too honest with the ones he had. Treat your email as you would this forum...it's essentially the same thing for anyone that wants to read it. I use encryption w/Kol because we talk about subjects I'd rather not become somebody else's knowledge. Better than nothing....just remember to use a passphrase that isn't the same as any passwords you would use, or you still have a weakness.

Edit: Don't worry, none of these are your email accounts, etc....I just have friends that aren't too smart. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/smile.gif

Bingo!

Keep your passphrase in your brain and nowhere else!
