View Full Version : Tribute to the USA

I finally broke down and read the news on the home page...and afterwards I thought, wow, that is one really mean Canadian. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/smile.gif So, I went and found an old article...all American's will really enjoy this. And you foreigners can think about it!

TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing.
America: The Good Neighbor.

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given
recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from
Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television
commentator. What follows is the full text of his
trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional
Record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the
Americans as the most generous and possibly the least
appreciated people on all the earth.

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and
Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the
Americans who poured in billions of dollars and
forgave other billions in debts. None of these
countries is today paying even the interest on its
remaining debts to the United States.

When the France was in danger of collapsing in 1956,
it was the Americans who propped it up, and their
reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets
of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the
United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59
American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped.

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped
billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now
newspapers in those countries are writing about the
decadent, warmongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that
is gloating over the erosion of the United States
dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country
in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo
Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10?
If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the
International lines except Russia fly American
Planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting
a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese
technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about
German technocracy, and you get automobiles.

You talk about American technocracy, and you find
men on the moon - not once, but several times -
and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs
right in the store window for everybody to look at .
Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded.
They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless
they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American
dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India
were breaking down through age, it was the Americans
who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and
the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them
an old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced
to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name
me even one time when someone else raced to the
Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside
help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one
Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get
kicked around. They will come out of this thing with
their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled
to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating
over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one
of those."

Stand proud, America!

This is one of the best editorials that I have ever
read regarding the United States. It is nice that
one man realizes it. I only wish that the rest of the
world would realize it. We are always blamed for
everything, and never even get a thank you for the
things we do.

I'm gonna say it....I'm gonna say it...

The good ol' US of A rocks!!!
Even if we have gotten away from what the "founding fathers" wanted....we are still the best damn nation in the world.

It amazes me when I read about people who want to leave because things are so "terrible"

Actors and Actresses were quoted as saying they were going to "leave the country" and live "in a foreign nation" if George Bush was elected president, and also those who said they would leave if Al Gore was elected. It amazed me to hear that. If they were in any other country, do they really think they would have made so much money just by reading some lines into a fucking camera??? NO!...in fact...HELL NO!...

In countries around the world, there is repression, depression, and suffering. And while there is some of that in our country, some of it is due to the fact that people ARE lazy. In many countries, it is because the GOVERNMENT forces it upon them, the GOVERNMENT doesn't do shit, or is helaciously corrupt. Women in hindu countries for example, are looked upon as a SLAVE, yes a SLAVE to their husband. In those countries, they are given the same respect as a fucking animal. In those same countries, if you BELIEVE something different than what they do, you can be killed, and noone will give a fuck. Hell, most of the time, the government/police/whomever, will be the ones that murder you! Here we have Freedom of Speech, freedom to believe what we want...freedom to BEAR ARMS! the constitution says that we have the right to unite against tyranic governemnt!!! That is unheard of in most of the world!

people are ignorant. We have the ability to stand up for what we believe in, and unite against something that we believe is wrong, and to change things. And as much as some say that we cant...we can...and it fucking irks me when people say the country is going downhill, yet dont do SHIT about it. People who sit on their ass during voting because "the country is messed up" NO FUCKING SHIT!!!! It is because people like you sit on your ass and dont do shit to correct it. How do you think our nation got like this in the first place? Because people are ignorant, and it pisses me off. Dont vote republican or democrat because "that is what you always vote." FUCK that...dig deep - look into the canidates, vote for whom you think is the best....

Damn, didn't mean to get on a rant here...but...oh well http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif - USA rocks http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/smile.gif

Yes, USA rocks. Quite frankly, I was amazed to learn a little while back that people did actually live in Canada. All this time I thought it was just the pink place on the map! Who would have thought! Not long after that, when I was sharing my knowledge of these people (which I actually thought of as cartoon like people), did I meet one of these so called "Canadians." It turns out, that they are just like us! Yeah yeah, they do say "Eh" instead of "huh", but I can overlook that!

This revolation just completely turned my world upside down. What will they come out with next? People in Mexico?! HA!

Am i the only one who had the word "Vietnam" flashing in his head while reading that? And bikini atoll? And the way the World Bank assrapes any company stupid enough to get into trouble, forcing them to change their economy with the sole focus being how they can satisfy American demand?

Oh yes, and helping france... that's not nice, that's just stupid.

And the chinese want desperately to put a man on the moon. Yeah, yeah, it's the thought that counts.

And for the record, Australian bush firefighters helped combat the forest fires in California recently.

There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking.
