Tonight, on my way home, a large buck crossed the road infront of my truck.
He drug his front left leg as he went in a vain attempt to make it work again.
I pulled over and waited for the traffic to pass on the farm to market road.
Then I put two .308 rounds through his heart and lungs,
with my surplus bolt action rifle of english design made in India in 1964.
His left front shoulder blade had been shattered by someone's careless poaching.
I carried the carcass to my truck and left it with a neighbor who could use the meat
and went on to town to pick my daughter up from daycare.
No politician or media source was present.
No police or gamewarden.
No one polled me or the deer.
I was less than 150 yards from some dallas metro-plex transplant's front door.
Not a peep from them.
I watched the ppl rush home down my 2 lane country road
as I humped the 150+ pounds of deer over the fence and back to the truck.
While that was not entirely LEGAL...it was the right thing to do IMHO.
When the kid was home and the dishes where done I opened this month's issue
of Shooting Times and read an article about gun control.
Why?
NICS
National Instant Check System vrs Homeland Defense.
This is a thing we gave into the Clinton administration about:
If I go to a gunshow to buy a gun they do an instant background check
If I clear, they sell me my gun.
And I go home and honest law-abiding citizen.
BUt "they" now have a reconrd of me buying that gun.
The current law says that if an honest law-abiding citizen buys a gun
the record of the search is destroyed within 24 hours.
Score:
John Ashcroft 1
Liberal Democrats 0
The current liberal legislators in the senate want that changed.
(thats why they "settled" for the law in the first place)
They want me filed forever!
See: Senators Schumer & Kennedy
Now, many of you from all over the world have no need of a gun.
You don't want a gun.
You don't have to HAVE a gun.
You have no intentionof killing criminals in your home.
or hunting (let alone revolutionary ideas of militant matrices)
You will NOT shoot an injured deer tomorrow
and if you did you'd have no one in need of the meat
(who couldn't get steak at the grocery store for less than it cost me in late charges @ daycare)
But I DO.
I live in the country.
I choose to live in the country.
The basic evil of gun control is the concept that there is no group of people
who need firearms enough to warrent them existing.
There is no way for humanity to continue to progress unless we all live in cities and
eat what the gov't has inspected and regulated and deemed safe for us.
And we should be taxed to provide that saftey.
No current gun laws want to prohibit the owner ship of my old crappy rifle.
But all the current gunlaws want to RECORD me buying it.
And they want desperately to limit what caliber it can be.
Its a caliber used in MANY assault rifles.
Today a man who grew up right here in east texas asked me what the laws where regarding
carrying guns in you truck window. I explained and he listened.
Then he proceeded to tell me that back in the 60's and 70's
EVERYONE in Texas had guns in their truck windows...
...then he left.
Does that mean crime has gone up as guns have disappeared?
Well cold dead fingers or not, they'll have to come get mine...
One day they will.
Thats all for tonight.
I need another cigar.
