The threat of nukes didn't end in the 50's. "Drop and Cover" was taught to the children of that generation.
As I was coming of age, any day could have been the last.
The nightmare continues for a new generation. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,42655,00.html
Pick your news source. That one is just an example.

Is it just me? or are the news reporters advertised on that link made of plastic.
Just in case you scan this thread and don't read the article first:
1)"By the year 2015, as many as 100 Chinese nuclear missiles could be aimed at the continental United States, as could long-range nukes in Iran and North Korea, a new CIA report said"
2)"Currently, China has about 20 silos with CSS-4 nuclear ICBMs that are capable of reaching the United States, according to the report. Another dozen nuclear missiles can reach targets in Russia and Asia."
3)"One hundred missiles would be too many for most of the missile defense systems envisioned by the Pentagon, ensuring that China has a deterrent against U.S. entry into a fight over Taiwan"
4)"Russia's strategic missile force will continue to get smaller, with or without arms control agreements, but Russia will still have far and away the largest nuclear missile inventory capable of hitting the United States, the report said"
When my dad came home from Vietnam the hippies threw shit at them.
But his dad and grandpa etc had all fought in wars and they looked at him like he had done what he was supposed to do and he earned some respect that is still there these many years later among veterans.
In all the articles on our new found patriotism and our support of dubya and our support of the war on terrorism (it must be true look at the poll data) i have seen nothing about our sudden opened eyed willingness to take a defensive global posisition again to protect our borderers and to forge true non-UN-propaganda backed alliances.
We are still a nation with 4 branches of "peace keeping forces"
army, navy, air force, marines
reading these other threads about tiny tic-tac sputnicks beeping away inside our bodies for easy gov't tracking and fed employees making us safe at the airports again I think its time to change my tactics.
Goddamit if the better part of 300,000,000 people want this shit more than they want the opportunity to succeed or fail on their own then I should at least be robbing them while its happening.
P.S.
Bill Clinton gave the panama canal back to the chinese.
Remember that? American built body of water that connects 2 oceans. Saves ships days of travel and gets cargo to more places faster stimulating the world economy through capitalisic access.
Reckon they got any missiles down there?

The Chinese will rule the world one day, it makes sense, they've got the sheer force of numbers and they're clever as fuck.
Please make a mental note of that, so that in 30 years or so, when you are eating rice for breakfast, you can think "Fuck, who would have guessed it?, skalie was right".

His sword on all sides
Strikes his foes
Crushes them down
Thus drops each man
On whom its blow falls"
