Worthless?? Fuck you...I used to think the same way...years ago...then I found physics and the world of vectors and forces and now trig is like nothing...its really not hard...just remeber SOHCAHTOA...sound it out like "so-ka-tow-ah"...

theta=angle your measuring from

sin(theta)=opposite side from theta/hypotenues of the triangel
cos(theta)=adjacent side from theta/hypotenues of the triangle
tan(theta)=opposite side from theta/adjacent side from theta...

hell...thats really all there is too it...the inverse functions are just those flipped...

Heh, yeah, I hate those people. We've all seen em...they go to school for 4 to 6 years to get their educations in a field in which they will then instruct others in. Generally, the ones they instruct have only a couple of years of college, but still, why do the professors think they are smarter??

Trig is the heart of business math. You will be very likely to use trig in any technical field.
You need trig for every mechanical field from pouring concrete to Space shuttles.

Calculus is mainstream for scientists but everyone else uses Trig.

The physical world has magic numbers like Pi Sin Tangent etc.. They crop up in the oddest places.

I work in a power plant. We use trig to calculate power factors and plant efficiency. Plain algebra can't calculate the relationships between the steam cycle. BTUs and electrical power. Nothing even related to a triangle there other than the trigonometric properties.

Trust me, you will run into some trig when you get out of college. Your boss will want the graphs also, so learn that too.
