I do have a question:

Why do we, America, feel that any time we go to war with it and blow it up, we feel compelled to not only rebuild it, but make it twice as big and so much better than it was to begin with?

Does it have something to do with all that extra money we have?

oops, that's two.

It's a fact that people constantly protest it. Right?

This is propaganda if I've ever seen it. (http://www.worldbank.org/tenthings/)

Vague article. (http://www.berkeley.edu/news/berkeleyan/2001/10/31_globa.html)

Can you say bureacracy? (http://www.worldbank.org/poverty/safety/audience.htm)

I'm supposed to take THIS seriously? That picture had me laughing for five minutes! Nice counter, too. I'm sure it's 100% accurate. (http://www1.worldbank.org/tobacco/) http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif

My newest bookmark! (http://www.whirledbank.org/)

<FONT COLOR = orange>My original position: The world bank is a tool of globalisation. I don't have enough faith in humanity to successfully adapt to globalization, ergo, I don't support the world bank nor any of it's endeavors. The links I found have done nothing but bolster my original position.</FONT>

Edit: That word didn't deserve to be so brutally misspelled.

Aha! Clever tactic, this. It's proven to be succesful in the past http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/smile.gif

Ok, I'll take this one:

<BLOCKQUOTE><HR>Originally posted by RogueWarrior:
And somebody enlighten me as how the WB ties in with the International Monetary Fund. That should be educational. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/wink.gif

[/quote]

This (http://www.globalexchange.org/wbimf/) seems to satisfy the requirements of the assignment.

Edit: I haven't gone any further into this (http://jolis.worldbankimflib.org/external.htm) site but it's worth noting.

I mean, don't you think Dateline NBC could stop faking product failures long enough to warn us about predatory coprorations and international government plots?

Maybe Joey and Rachel can cover it on the next episode of Friends.

Sorry I'm late for the assignment.
We're already setting up trust funds in the World Bank. ( [url="http://www.house.gov/financialservices/hr106548.pdf")

Lot's of issues here. (http://www.house.gov/jec/imf/meltzer.htm)

One source for the money supply:
H.R. 2209 puts 200,000,000 into the World Bank for 2002 (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c107:1:./temp/~c107ODf42e::)

Does this mean our government is now in the banking business?

Conform to our typu of government and you can play too! (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c107:15:./temp/~c107ODf42e::)

O.K. So I've been prowling around govspot.com to find these links. I'm seeing something really scary. Every Department in our government has something to do with the World Bank. Education, Human Services, Agriculture, Foreign Trade....ALL of them. Not only do they have ties to the World Bank, but the are all receiving "appropriations" to help cover their involvement with it. One example: The government annually spends 100,000,000 globally on land mines. Since they figure only 10% of that is actually going to the field, they're giving more money to the World Bank to combat them. WTF??? Why not find out where the 90% of that 100 million is going?

Unaccountable was one discription that stuck in my mind.

you need more skills than what they publish to follow the money trail. I dont think the entire accounting team at Lloyds could get it, even with full disclosure. However, you can draw some broad strokes. As long as those dont end up slitting your throat

May I propose as a potential topic the following:

Agricultural production/crop utilization/applied genetic engineering

Ask yourself three simple Q's:

What factors make some areas enormously more productive than other, climatologically similar areas?

What are the underlying social dynamics involved?

Who profits from the developing opposition to genetically engineered crops/animals?
