Can I ask you a simple question? What in the FUCK happened to good old fashioned evidence? It used to be that cops went to the crime scene. Collected evidence. Linked the suspect to the evidence. Proved in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
Technology is a great thing. I think the improvements to the way they gather evidence is a good thing. Criminals need to be caught. ( That's a whole different arguement.) What I'm saying here is that we need to quit spending time and money with these techno-gadgets that will supposedly corner the bad guys.
Maybe I see too much in these things.

Yes, and I'm sure it'll be JUST AS EFFECTIVE as those inadmissable lie detectors.
Simple fact: Stress does not = lying,
and lying does not = stress
particularly if the person has a modicum of self control.
New Technology: Something no-one's figured out how to get around just yet

Oh HELL YES there are too many loop holes in the justice system. Whatever happened to the good ol' days when the cops could bring someone in for questioning and beat the hell out of the mofo when he/she pissed them off BEFORE they even had any evidence that the person was guilty?
Bring that system back and people would be too fucking scared to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I firmly believe that we need to focus more on punishment than rehabilitation, for criminals. With all of today's modern psychology, it is quite easy to find an excuse for almost any thing a person does. This is not to say that it's never valid, but I just feel that there are too many loopholes in today's criminal justice system.

Punishment is part of rehabilitation, as rehabilitation is about getting the offender back into society and not re-offend, with going back to face more punishment part of the deterrent side.
I should say that a problem with many justice systems is that prisoners are allowed to commit crimes against each other; that is wrong, I should say, especially as it tends to make prison life easier for the worst of criminals and worse for the less dangerous ones.
Surely the main object of prison is to reduce crime in society? Many crimes are committed by re-offenders, so it isn't working too well.

Good point, HOWEVER, I do believe that there are MANY mutherfuckers that who would be well served by not only being too afraid to do the wrong thing because of what might happen to them but could also use a SEVERE, UNCONTROLLED ass whoopin' as punishment for their crimes.

About the news article, i am sure that part of the reason that the police feel the need for this sort of sillyness is that it is often difficult to get warrents to obtain 'proper evidence', at least if the suspect can afford fancy lawyers.
But I was under the impression that these restrictions on police evidence-collecting were pretty popular around these parts.
