View Full Version : Your "Freedoms"...

I'm Content.
I'm not going to go into specifics blah blah blah...
I'm just happy with my life and my control over it.
I do whatever I want. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I'm satisfied because I am legally permitted (or just able to get away with) whatever I damn well please. Perhaps if I wanted to masturbate in public or piss on the pretty flowers, I would be unhappy with my level of freedom. But I don't want to do that so I'm content with what soceity and the law says I am "free" to do.

this is most definetely an interesting question.
for starters, i live in canada
i have the basic freedoms i think: life, liberty, 'pursuit of happiness'
i justify this here: i am alive, i can say FUCK YOU MISTER PRIME MINISTER with no reprecussions, and i'm moving to bc in four weeks to pursue a new life.
these are basic definitions, but ring true.
i have pretty much any freedom i want, i think... i am safe most of the time, any police officers i have dealt with have been polite and curteous, i am not hassled by them.
i have the right to free speech, i have on many occasions said unflattering things against authority figures here and in 'real life' with no repercussions (once on the radio http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif)...
i am protected from corporations by laws... to the point where they would wipe my ass if i asked to keep me from suing them...
in all honesty i own the world.. white male aged 18-45
i am treated with a level of dignity wherever i work and am given a fair (grumble) wage guaranteed
the only beef i have lately is with my school system being fucked by a politician trying to raise his own pay...
and im escaping him in four weeks...
i feel no need to fight for my freedoms yet... but i will if need be...
i dont want to own a gun and i accept taxes.. canada is a-okay with me

I'm going to stop now and get some rest before I dig myself a deeper grave.
Seriousily... I have better things to do than feel sorry for my pathetic American self. Getting all passionate about shit like that does nothing but waste my time. It won't solve anything. It won't make it better. Alone I have no power and my flag waving will just make the armpit of soceity smell even worse. The fucking president couldn't change things if he wanted to...

I believe in the strict literal interpretation of the US Constitution.
I believe I have the rights it guarantees. I believe every one of them have been infringed. I am content to advocate and donate to the legal resolution of those infringements.
To keep my rights I am willing to donate my hard earned dollars to the political organizations of my choice. I believe in a small government where my rights extend to the tip of your nose. I am willing and prepared to fight any force foreign or domestic that would try to remove those rights.
You do what you are able to resolve things peacefully with the ability to back up your words. Without the ability to fight your words are nothing more than sound.
If my own brother came to my town under the flag of the UN to disarm us I would have no problem putting a bullet through his head.
Not to be selfish and keep my property or satisfy some paranoid fantasy but to keep America free for my sons and all Americans. To say It couldn't happen is denial. It has happened time and time again throughout history but most people find it too unpleasant to consider.
Heads in the sand and asses in slavery. Luckily there are more people like me in America than assholes marching under the UN. So for now local tyrants will have to be satisfied enslaving South Africa, Bosnia, etc... Don't think for a moment that there aren't people in America that wouldn't love that kind of control here.

Hmmm. You all bitch about the way things are in America but you have no clue of the horrors that exist in other countries. People in Russia, china, or Cuba would give their lives to be able to have just HALF of the things we have. Like the freedom to criticize the government in public, even on Television! That would result in execution in those other countries. By no means is this country perfect, but i'm just fucking glad i was born here and not in a place where i can't talk about the government without fear of my neighbours reporting me to the police.

I watch fucked up news casts about starving little children in bosnia, i watched fucked up newscasts about countries that have been at war for decades. I watch fucked up newscasts about people's governments executing citizens gang-style because they wish for a freedom that isn't supplied to them. I watched fucked up newscasts about africans killing white farmers because their leader belives that all whites should be driven out of their country. Things are fucked up all over. I'm PROUD to live in a place where my freedoms are (while sometimes limited) given to me on a daily basis. The only thin gi can complain about at this given moment is that i have no coffee. Freedoms are not free.
That is the one thing above all others that I am on about constantly.
"The price of Freedom is eternal vigilance."--Thomas Jefferson
We have forgotten that; in this age of shirking responsibility and every stupid act committed by a retard being blamed on chemical imbalances and mythological birth defects, we lose a little every day.
I expect nothing less than absolute perfection from Americans. We have the best of everything and yet we piss it away and every single goddamned day we slide a little further down the spiral to socialism and drastic fiscal irresponsibility.
I am merely ahead of the curve on observing this trend and analyzing it's eventual, inevitable, outcome. When you live every moment of your life in expectation of sudden, lethal violence, you learn to observe, analyze, and predict the outcome of events. The fact that I am still alive proves that I may be paranoid, but I am successful.
I don't want to hear about how great we have it compared to other countries. That's BULLSHIT and it makes me want to fucking PUKE. We don't have nearly as well as we ought to because so many of you out there are too goddamned busy slapping yourselves on the back to pay attention to the fucking trends.
Wake the fuck up and smell the tyranny, or you'll all be telling your enslaved grandchildren (if you're allowed to have any) how good it used to be.
[/quote]
Again an extreme look at only the negative. Can you honestly say that you'd rather live n a third world country under REAL tyranny? I'm not speaking of western europe or almost any country in our hemisphere. I'm just pointing out that everyone puts such a dire outlook upon our nation's future. Back to this tyranny thing. Are you speaking of our government as a tyrant.. I'm not mocking i just can't get your reasoning on this one.
yes.. It kills me that big government has so much control over so many things. And i am well aware of the social degrading of many of our citizens. again this is an extreme look at a slowly rising minoritive movement. This Freedom should never be free. It should be something earned. The only problem is that people think it's free. I recognize every problem you bring up and i couldn't agree more rogue, but i'm not going to say that my country is shit. I'm not going to deny that i live a relatively happy life. I'm not going to deny that i have many more freedoms than a large amount of people globally. I'm not going to look at a few seriously huge problems and just give up every ounce of faith i have in our country. I will not give up my hopes for a country found on the ideals of justice and liberty. It's when we all become negative that bad things happen. CAll me crazy but i have more faith in my land of the free. As always I respect everything you have to say.

My freedoms...
I honestly can't say what they are. I can breathe without someone telling me when. I can piss when I want.
Can I carry the gun I am supposed to be able to? Nope, I don't think so.
Can I assemble a group of people peacefully when and where I want? Nope, I don't think so.
Are the punishments for crimes fair? Nope, I don't think so.
Are the rights given to me in the first few papers of this Union worth anything to politicians today? NOPE, I DON'T FUCKING THINK SO!!
If you've missed my point, reread this.
Because of many people's walking through life blindly, I suffer the consequences. And honestly, it's really pissing me off.
Pianoamhnn (Chris Tinnon) will be running for President of the United States in the year 2016. Keep that date in mind...

Australia has no bill of rights. What freedoms we do have are merely permitted by a web of laws. If the government wanted to, it could make me a slave basically overnight.
But that ain't gonna happen. And i feel safe, even though i am scared that possibility does exist. Because the simple fact is Australian are almost universally decent. It's hard to describe - whereas americans love their freedoms, and feel they are constantly under threat, and constantly feel the need to fight for them, Australians simply seem to believe they exist naturally. The thought of removing them is inconcievable. In short, i simply cannot see any Australian becoming a dictator. There's something in our national consciousness which means we care more about other's rights than we do our own. Americans, conversely, seem to fight solely for their own rights and don't give a flying fuck about anyone elses. While this is effective in guaranteeing freedom, i think it means American society is also very uncaring. Australia's way of going about it produces a society i find infinitely more preferable.
At the same time, i feel violated and very angry whenever i see a speed camera. But then, i'm a revhead.

I'll agree with you there. Australians seem to have an unspoken solidarity. No greater strength exists.
Yes you guys have had some really crappy oppressive things happen to you in the last few years.
The gun ban for instance. Now half of your country has been dictated to be criminals. I don't have current figures but I think they got less than ten percent of the firearms in public hands during the "turn in". That makes a powerful statement. You stick together. Unfortunately as individuals those laws give the government incredible power over you.
But like I said solidarity is plenty enough power to balance the forces against you.
I have great respect for Australians. Yours is one of the few countries I would love to visit. Yours and New Zealand, I guess I better hit them both.
