I have to take mine (http://www.geocities.com/mamacita_kaye/images/teethxray.jpg) out tomorrow at 9am. I have to do it in the hospital (because of other medical complications) but I get to be put out all the way, which I don't know if it is a good thing or not.

I'M SCARED! I haven't even had stitches before. Anyway, I'll see you in a few days.

A quick and easy recovery to you...

THat must say something about me tho, the fact that I'm almost 30 and have not had a single wisdom tooth burst forth yet....

I had 2 taken out under general anesthesia, and 2 taken out with just novocaine. General anesthesia was much better.

I got all four of mine out when I was 14, and having other complications, was also in the hospital. My experience wasn't bad at all (except for the IVs...cause they couldn't find my veins and needles are my mortal fear). Although I had complications after the surgery (they shattered two of the teeth and couldn't find all the pieces), it still was pretty easy. They give you nice medication, and you get to live off of jello and pudding (careful that it's not too cold). The second day is the hardest, but after that, you should be well on your way. Like face said, you hardly notice the stitches...they come out, but it's completely painless. But don't eat rice, cause it'll get stuck in the holes. Good luck!

are you being put under?
i would recommend it, i was awake for the procedure and regretted it. First off they take this huge needle and jam it into your lower gums where the wisdoms are. Which, to say the least, sucks ass leaving you there with some nitrous oxide going through your nose. The feeling of numbness while is a good thing for whats to come, sucks when you are sitting back with spit going down your throat. Your tongue is so numb, it is VERY hard to swallow.

They then take basically some pliers and there is an INCREDIBLE amount of pressure, and you could literally see the mans arms shaking trying to pull them out. In fact my cheeks were bruised where he was gaining leverage on them. To see all that blood being sucked out of your mouth into that tube kinda sucks too, and to hear the influx of blood go through it once they pull it out. Luckily only two of my teeth were impounded (under the gum) so i only needed minimal stitches. They only gave me vicodin, but i felt better enough that day while on it to have sex http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif, i just laid there.

anyways, afterwards pudding and mashed potatoes are your best friends. or those instant breakfast things. Just the act of swallowing creates suction in your mouth and causes it to hurt badly.

best of luck!

I had the 'ol wisdoms yanked two months ago. I also was awake for the operation but the nitrous oxide was strong enough that I didn't care what they were doing to me.

To see all that blood being sucked out of your mouth into that tube kinda sucks too[/quote]
Didn't they cover your eyes? I wanted to see what was going on but the doc said that the eyes covered to keep debris from flying in them.
That day was awfull. I sat over the sink for a few hours and just let blood ooze out of my mouth. The second way wasn't too bad. The bleeding stopped and I could eat some soup & ice cream.
I'm sure they'll give you some good drugs and the ordeal will be more annoying than painfull. A week or so and you'll never know you had them removed. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Kaye dear,

I suppose the one flaw, (and I doubt you can even call wisdom teeth a flaw but for the sake of showing you all I AM human) I had was my wisdom teeth. All four were impacted. I had to go completely under (natuarally I had my Christian bodyguard there to make sure that dentist didn't do something) for the surgery. Mine was a bit unusual in that two of the teeth had to be broken off and left because they ran through nerves.

The surgery was 3 hours and I ate roast beef & baked potatoes that same night.

THEN the novacaine wore off and I was in HELL for the rest of the night. Being opposed to any drug intake I opted for Loritab 3 and Percacet (which really aren't drugs) and I ate them like Skittles for a week. I lived on juice and more juice.

I lost 12 pounds that week and had the cheekbones of a fashion model afterwards.

It's not bad, really. Just do this: The very last thing you think of before you go out will be me and BJ looking over you like angels. I'll be the pretty one.

Good luck!

YIC,

I couldn't eat solid food for 3 weeks, and I didn't lose an ounce. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/frown.gif

Oh you poor dear, Rabble Rouser. I have always been blessed with a high metabolism and perfect skin. Have you talked with Him about this? Perhaps the Lord wanted you to keep that weight on for a reason.

Luckily I was born without them. I know a few people who have had all four extracted at once and it wasn't a pleasant experience for them at all. Funny thing is, as part of human evolution, more and more people are being born without them.

Only a few things can go wrong though Kaye. A fractured jaw, haemorrhaging, allergic reaction to the anesthetic, permanent nerve damage resulting in numbness of the tongue, phantom pains in the following months to come......oops did I say that? Just messing with ya Kay3. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/wink.gif

Goodluck Kaye and a speedy recovery to ya.
