who is the You?

i think the answer is Lord, being, apart from my last name, the term used for God. It is knowing that God will look after us.............

I'd personally much rather consider the 'You' in that to be any person, living or dead, that I hold dear in my heart.

For me anyway, that would be a lot more comforting at a time of heavy stress than an old bearded man looking down upon me, making sure that I dont do more wrong, unless its in His name

As one of the resident Atheists, it may be complex for me to explain or understand why this Psalm still holds value to me. It does.

I guess I view the Bible as any other great book that I've read. Parts of it will help shape my life and I can take from it what I need and want.

I see the 'you' as those around me that give me strength.

yay KB and cruise said it...

don't get me wrong, i don't look down on this, but misleading people to think God is on their side is wrong...(which i think he might of been doing)

but the way Cruise uses this phrase makes me feel better...

i like the phrase, and it's good you have faith in something..

Who is 'he'? If you believe in God, then you don't feel misled. If you don't believe in God, you don't care. How is anyone being misled?

I see the "You" as humanity.

As I walk through the valey of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for the world is with me.

Being here, all I see is decent people helping one another.

My co-worker has put 3 16 hour days in, just so we can get Lehman ready to help the stock market continue on monday. I can see it's mentally and physically tearing him apart.

Makes me feel small, I've only put 2 6 hour days in on top of my classes. I want to do more, I want to be there moving debris. They wont let me.

This was a psalm made by King David. Therefore, the you is "Lord", or Yahweh (s/p) in Hebrew, being God the Father and God the Spirit.

Take it as you will.

And KB, thats just your impression of God. Doesnt mean he is that way....................

I spoke with god this morning and for your information KB he no longer has a beard.

It is true he shaved it into a killer goat and now sports a nice mullet.

His marketing people said it would put him in touch with todays youth................

Looking at it as a biblical interpretation, "You" means God, the Lord or Jesus.

Whatever people who are not Christians attach meaning to "You" is fairly irrelevant as a passage from the bible, and merely becomes a few wise words.
