I took my little girl to daycare today so her momma could get a day off.
This requires me to take a different route than i usually take now a days but one that I used to take all the time 6 or 7 years ago.
I was horrified to see how much traffic is there now.
I NEVER saw anything like this out here in the woods.
There are hundreds of cars going in both directions on our little 2 lane highway http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/frown.gif
Dozens lined up at the 4-way stop sign in every direction. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/frown.gif
You see there is this resort community out here that's been around since the 70's.
Golf course, big lakes, tennis courts etc.
And suddenly they have turned into a developement community with a couple thousand perminant homes.
The surrounding rural area has likewise exploded.
People can afford to drive the 35 miles to the two largest towns and many of them make a good living in the smaller communities.
I'm noit sure how much more populated it will get. The community down the street only has room for 500 or 600 more houses.
But the 2500 acres behind my house is slated for development into a $35,000,000 golf course type community as well.
I sat and talked to the my neighbor (the guy who manages the ranch to be developed)last night. We discussed how much things have changed and where they are going. What these people re thinking about the land and the developement compared to what we know to be true about the wildlife and the weather.
I am saddened to see ti happen but at the same time it may give me an opportunity to make some money close to home.
I better kill my deer and pigs while I can.
I see a day when moving may be necessary.
Or.....a day when I can make a damn good living off the people who insist on living here...and don't want to be bothered by the fact that they live out in the woods and not in the city. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/wink.gif
