Well i was in the middle of writing up a good topic about modern life and idealism, but it seems my Internet service provider decided it was time for it so stop working. now this wouldn't have mattered. I can just copy and paste and save and just wait. But no, i had napster open. When this happens, the next time i try to view anything but what i'm currently doing crashes my computer with the blue screen of death.
So here we are.
Summary.
1.Saw the movie Latterday Plays.
2.Agreed with message plays were sounding
3.What are your general thoughts of today's society and modern living?

This will take me a while to respond to as well...I had an awful fucking day. Once I stop twitching, I'll respond.

Todays society is the mass media (pop) culture combined with old school British middle upper class. Creating the most contradictory, fucked up society on the face of the planet. How many of your parents would give you alcohol and yet bust your ass if your manners at the dinner table are a bit slack? Fucked up isn't it?!?! I got my ass reamed for eating my peas on the wrong side (the other side) of the fork while having dinner at my parents place, and yet the night before when I was staying there for the night, I staggered in absolutely pissed off my face from a 21st, made heaps on noise and woke up my parents, and yet they said almost nothing. How fucked up is that. This post modernism is the product of two millenia of fucked up people with fucked up ideas. Personally, I am pissed off with the hypocracy, with the media feeding us their spin on what is going on, with asshole politicians 'working for us' while lining their pockets. It makes me want to get out my double shotgun and .377 and go on a bit of a spree through parlianment and the TV stations. Except that would only strengthen them, cause them to bond even more stongly together (and cause me to end up either dead or in jail.) But sometimes I feel that RW has a point with his statements about self worth and self determination, and about doing somthing about it. What, I dont know.......

EDITED: i'm quite aware of the annoying spelling and typos. I dont feel like fixing it right now.
Well the one part of this fil that really hit me was the last act. A man sits in a hotel room and tells a story to some drunk he met in the lobby. he goes through a story about his workplace, his home life, and i can really identify with this guy. He talks about women getting higher up in his copmany by talking shit about men and stating that the'r sexist pigs. This shit happens everyday. more power to the women, but sometijes this country jsut allows people to go to far. Sure we enjoy our right of free speech. We enjoy our rights as citizens, but as the years pass by i see middle-class white america dwindling into an undervoiced minority of sort. I am noit a racist and i stand behind the words of our forefathers that all men are CREATED equal. But it pains me to see some very hard-working young white kids being turned away from jobs at fucking FAST FOOd restaurants because they dont have any racial background and a quota needs to be met. But i digress...
So he talks about these women gaining power in his company and Lay-Offs become a hot subject of water-cooler communications. A frined calls him one friday and tells him that the word on the street is that he's going to be laid off. He's devestated. his wife, and his daughter (16 months) live a VERy nice life and he can't even begin to understand what he'll do at this point if he loses my job. This paricular part struck me.
He hears his daughter in his room. And again you need to realize he's devestated and his wife is shopping. He hears her. She's makind wimpering noises. He goes to his door and sees his little daughter underneath his down comforter. He doesn't rush to help her.. He thinks about it. And he thinks some more. he walks to the bed and he explained nudging her with his foot and covering her completely.
He lays down on a chair and falls asleep to the sound of the last breath leaving his young daughter. He explains that maybe with the death of a daughter the company would take it easy on him and he and his wife could continue living and he could still interact in his social circle of rich snobs.
I'll get to the ending later.. But this really disturbed me. The acting was wonderful so I was just blown away. This is our society. These are our fathers. And after watching this thing, you know that it's possible that this kind of thing happens every fucking day. It sickens me just thinking about it. and what's sad is that i COMPLETELY understand where this guy is coming from. And for a split second i feel for him. I disgust myself.
And i realize that this is exactly the sign that people should be watching. Lets take a big city like mine. If only people knew half the things that go on behind legit businesses. Not particularly where i worked, but i've heard stroies of huge murders and investigations that have been covered up by big companies, just because of a few thousand dollars. people lose their lives over poor representations of dead motherfuckers on green paper. People die because one person (the father) doesn't want to be out of the safe little social loop. People die because we are starting to live in a place where staus quo and social well-being is more important than life itself. But this is just a very grim part of what our world is. We tend to focus on the negative more than the positive. It's just that the negative is so full of horrific truth. And it takes only a little time until there is nothing left, and we're all just sitting around a monopoly table.
I've cheated at monopoly many times. Stabbed my good friends in the back. It's no longer going to be a game. This is where we're headed. I'm tired.
Oh and for those of you who feel like deconstructing this entire thing and putting cute little quotes and retorts, i give you a big Fuck you in advance. It's just my opinion.
