I just invented the perfect car!

First you start with A half dozen Plutonium Pits from the Soviet surplus. These are baseball sized chunks of weapons grade plutonium. Make a lead container with movable walls so the pits can be held in close proximity without reaching critical mass. Put the lead box in a thin pressure vessel like an air compressor tank. Fill the tank with water and boil the water by sliding the lead plates to expose the pits. Drive the car with a small steam engine.

Advantages:

Fuel is free after the initial investment.

No CO2

No cop will pull you over, ever because of radiation poisoning.

No one will dent your doors in a parking lot because....see above.

If you put a condenser on the roof you won't even need to stop for water.

The safest car on the road! Why? Because everyone will avoid hitting your car due to the high yield nuclear explosion that would result.

No air bags, what's the point. Any one would go for a head on collision on the freeway rather than hitting you at 5 MPH.

Depending on design this thing could really haul ass.

i'm not very interested in either cars or knives, but i find both threads to be fascinating. actually, that goes for any of the more specialized topics in there. that forum was a good idea.
