View Full Version : What's wrong with us today?

Since the dawn of time man has felt like the rest of mankind was going downhill.

It seems to scream at me in the news and on the radio.
"People have NO desire to be any better when they die then when they are born."

So I tell myself, "That can't be right. I must be READING something into this. Or I'm being judgemental."

But when I talk to 10 people in a day, possibly 3 of them seem like they are awake and aware and proud to be so.
Then a month or two later I start to see these people and how they live and I find that they are mean or stupid or just dead wrong.

Are we getting worse?
I'm not sure how to guage that.

Is it me?
If so, why do so many of you say the same thing.

Is it really TV and handguns and beer and dope that's making each generation stupider?
HHhhhhhmmmm....

Or is it that the ratio is constant.
Its 1 in 1000, in my experience, that are not self-destructive and have any concept of their life and its place in the universe.

1 in 1000 believe they can do anything better than it was done before them.

1 in 1000 is a generous figure.
I'd say its more like 1 in 1,000,000 but I've met too many recently...

A ratio would explain alot.
A country with 30,000,000
would have 29,700,000 dumbasses
A country with 300,000,000
would have 297,000,000 dumbasses

You have to wade through more to get one of substance.

Maybe its that every generation is starting from a different point.
Could be that.

Us old timers (anyone who is already born) are living in the past while looking to the future.

How about the cycle theory?
Maybe we have generations that experience vast expansion and growth then their kids get fat and lazy and STUPID.
Till the fall of that civilization.

I dunno.
I bet its something like that.

But I bet to be realistic I should say MOST people I've met in my life have lived very poorly. Lieing, cheating, stealing, being generally stupid and trying desperately to be pitiful.
Why should I expect the new generation to be any different.
That's why I posted
this (http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000074.html)

One of my employees, Lara, is a single mother. 10 months out of the year she bithces about how she doesn't make enough money for her and her son to really have a good quality of life. Lara is paid reasonably well for her job and she is guaranteed full time hours year round. Now, tax time comes around. Lara gets a decent sized check from Uncle Sam. Does she save it? Use it for a nest egg? Buy some cool shit for herself or her child? NO. Lara takes a bunch of unpaid time off because "I just got this money and don't have to work."

Now this, Tribals, is what baffels me. This person has a chance to get ahead, so to speak or offer up herself some sort of nest egg or security fund. Is it a lack of discipline? A lack of caring? Or is it merely a lack of far-sightedness?

Now when Lara bitches about not having money, I remind her of her little binge in February and tell her to "shutthefuckup" in management terms...."Go talk to HR."

*Sits on high chair*

Why is that everyone has to look at the rest of the world and judge them? Sure, the world is full of dumbasses that are- sarcasm aside- posterchildren for birthcontrol. That is the way of life. It was like that before any of us were born, it is like that today, and it will continue to be like that in the far distant future.

Deal with it. Use all of that valuable time and intelligence you have looking down upon others that have not the braincells to invent a wheel and use it to better your own life. Learn from your mistakes is not just a catchy phrase and it does not mean by itself literally. Learn from other people's mistakes as well as your own. Perhaps that is why there are so many dipshits, dumbasses and morons in the world- besides them breeding a hell of alot more than us brainiacs- to show the collective us how to better live our lives and how to better other people's lives by our own actions themselves.

All due respect CD, but she used the money to be able to spend some time with her child, or not?

That is 1000 times more valuable than buying "cool shit", taking some free time for some people is the most theraputic thing in the world.

Let me guess, her job is a little boring and dead end?

Actually, no. Most of the time was spent throwing parties or going to the bar. From what I gather, her mother took her son for most of the time.

As for her job, she was recently placed in one of our sales departments where associates have ample room to move up and excel.

Free time off is a good thing. I encourage my associates to take random days off once in a while just for shits and giggles. EVERYBODY needs that kind of time now and again.

I noticed you said "associates" and not "employees".

Now that would be cool, your boss telling you......"take random days off, whenever you want, don't worry if it's going to cause trouble for the firm, your sense of freedom is more important."

I like the concept.
