Here's a thought: Some of us who post regularly here and at the SPF have not become regulars at the Asylum because we feel put off by the tight knit cliques that exist there. That position has been expressed by a few people in this forum in other threads. Will TheHyperTribe evolve into another Asylum, where regulars discount the opinions of newcomers based on their "newbie" status? Has it already begun and I just can't see it?

I have done a lot of lurking at the Asylum and very little posting. I am in NO WAY attacking the Asylum, as I have come to respect the intelligence and eloquence demonstrated by many of it's regualars. Oddly enough, the country-club mentality continuously demonstrated by a minority of Asylum users is enough motivation to disuade me from posting over there.

I have seen how newcomers are treated in the SPF.

Thanks for that input, Mudflap. You are correct. I am VERY aware of just what you are talking about in regards to the Asylum and you have probably noted that I am one of the "ignore the idiots in here" proponents, obviously I am an Admin over there.
Part of the problem is it is a backlash to the SPF mentality which we all have tired of, both here, in Hypertribe, and the Asylum. That is why these sites exist, in a way.
The people that have come over to Asylum lately from SPF, for the most part, were looking for a change but a few brought the SPF attitude with them and caused a reaction among a few of the regs which was felt by most of the SPF visitors.
Some, RW is a shining example, fit in and ignored the few bleatings of the minority.
I might add that, I sometimes have to reset my thinking after posting in SPF, to the mindset of the Asylum. (I lurk over there a lot but don't post much for obvious reasons)
This forum is easy to post in because it has that mindset and familiar faces.

I think that you might see a whole different attitude developing that will affect both the Hypertribe and the Asylum.
I was quite pleased to see this place. I do not see RW as a competitor at all and if he would ever answer my mail (hint, kick, hint), I think that the two sites will do nothing but enhance each other yet remain autonomous.
This is not an invitation per se for you to go to the Asylum and post. You are welcome to of course but that is not why I am responding, just replying to your post.

Personally, I would encourage you to post here more as well as anyone else reading this. There is a wealth of great people that are in the SPF that are in need of this type of site/forum which is what the Asylum is all about too. But, this forum needs the activity, all forums do. Give it the activity, dammit.
I really think that this place will do well and hope that the people that it was created for will take advantage of it.

I just go ahead and later tell him we already talked about it and he agreed to it.

Sometimes I do things out of the blue and then when he asked where it came from, I yell, "Jesus, man, it was YOUR FUCKING IDEA!!!!" He is fun to confuse.
