I am sitting here, once again imbibing in a liquid perception-altering substance, and I thought that I would stop by and wish my friends at home and abroad a happy holiday. I don't even know which holiday this one is, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, Happy Hallmark Day, I really don't give a flying fuck which one it is, I personally don't need a particular day set aside to celebrate or remember the past, my love for my kindred, or anything else I that hold dear. I do that every day; holidays simply mean a paid extra day off to me.

Having said that, happy whatever the fuck this is.

Go out, pollute your bodies, screw with glee, kiss the ones you love, remember the ones you have lost, and be thankful for both what you have and what you have gotten away with.

In short, do what you should be doing every single day of your life.

Life is a contact sport.

Happy whatever to you too! http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/smile.gif We are not celebrating anything here at the moment, but a happy whatever day sounds general enough for anyone to celebrate.

/me pulls out a party popper, hat, and a bottle of whisky!

From the Sailor's Creed:

I represent the fighting spirit of the Navy and those who have gone before me to defend freedom and democracy around the world.[/quote]

At least once every day I make it a point to read about those who sacrificed in the past so that I could be where I am today. Does anyone know who are John Paul Jones or Oliver Hazard Perry? The names of any of the Sailors aboard the USS Maine? What happened to the USS Stark?

This day is set forth so that nobody can say they don't have the time to learn. I am irritated that everyone is going to spend the day partying.

Of all our holidays, this is perhaps among the least festive...

This day is set aside to remember those people who gave their lives so that you could
"Not Give A Fuck."

Please don't take that freedom lightly.

You actually need to reserve one measly day to reflect upon that? You have no idea how truly sad that is.

Yes, I think the country does need a day to reflect on that. No, they should not be forgotten the other 364 days of the year. It is merely a National way to formally say "thank you" to those who served and gave their lives.
Everyone deserves a holiday.
Veterans have a day.
Labor Unions have a day.
I have my birthday.

SLAPNUT day is coming...

The Colonel once told me that he hoped I would never truly understand what he went through to provide a comfortable place for me and my future children. The only way I could, he said, would be to physically experience what he had gone throough.

WWII should have been enough for any man. Korea could only have been the return of a nighmare.

My father was a warrior. He didn't choose his role in life; it was thrust upon him. His wish was for peace but he had to sacrifice his good nature in order to establish a future for his grandchildren.

I'm told that heroes aren't born, they are made.

I'm proud to be the son of a True Hero.

Salute, Colonel. And thank you, Rogue, for your sig.

Bah. I am a veteran. Are you? I think not...you are just another mindless sheep conforming to a decree made by our federal government, blindly swallowing whatever is doled out to you. But that's OK, I served to make sure that you have the freedom to be that stupid.

It always amuses me to no end to see the pack mentality in action on these boards, in your example a sanctimonious defense of an ideal that you really have no comprehension of, sitting safely in your little cage trying to lecture me about something that you sound like you have never given anything up for. Fuck you, you little insignificant pissant.

The last 3 wars America has been involved in (yes, I am including the "police action") were not about freedom. If you are going wax patriotic on me at least learn a little about what you are babbling about.

You really think we should celebrate a holiday for labor unions? How about an "Organized Crime" holiday to go along with that? Labor unions have outlived their usefulness and become infected with a cancer. I chose not to celebrate that, thank you. Do you understand why labor unions came about? Once you understand that, you may have an inkling of why I say they should be abolished.

Freedom and sacrifice is not something to celebrate on a holiday. It is something to put into practice every day.

And just as a final thought, your birthday shouldn't celebrate you; it should celebrate your parents for not drowning your sorry ass when you were a child. That applies to everybody, myself included. But you probably don't understand that one either, do you?

So, happy Whatever the Fuck This Is Day to you. Baaaaaa.....

Guess what. I'm 30. That puts me right about the "Gulf War" era. You don't know where I've been. You don't know where I was stationed. You don't know what I've shot at or what I've killed. Maybe this 'patriotic waxing' as you call it has some merit. I don take my freedoms very seriously. I do know what I'm talking about, so kiss my ass.

Labor unions have outlived their usefullness. That we can agree on. But you have to admit that they did have their place in our history and we should acknowledge that.

Oh, I also agree with you on the whole birthday gig. I'm glad my parents didn't kill me while they had the chance.

shit guys, a holiday is a holiday. I either get the day off from work, or triple pay, so, hey, I'll take it whatever the fuck it is. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

No, I'm not a veteran there Zombie. I'm just a little to young to have been involved in one. You sound like that is a hinderance for me. Like you HAVE to go to war to be a citizen...jesus man..you have read "Starship Troopers" one to many times.

BTW....my grandfather was in a Nazi POW camp and the end of the war. The Purple Heart to prove it, along with a plethora of other medals. And a scar across his stomach. A large scar. And I am proud of what he did for our country. I am proud of my freedom. I am proud of those who defend it. I am proud of the idea of freedom, and of America. yes, the govt. may be a little twisted, hell even alot twisted, but we have more freedom than most countries dream of. We have prosperity. We are a thriving nation.

Conforming to a decree. Yes, I am sorry that I want to honor the people that gave their lives. I am sorry that maybe I dont think about it every day. You make it sound like Veterans day is a bad thing!!! jesus fuck man! Do I do this blindly? NO. I am glad I have the day as a reminder. "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it." I think we should be grateful for the reminder of not only people who served our country, but of the horrors of war.

Zombie. Shut up before you have to stick your foot in your mouth. You are accusing us of having "preconcieved" notions of things. HA. "Pack mentality on the boards" Ideals that we have no comprehnsion of. HA. You dont know us to well Zombie.

You served to make sure that we have the freedom to be stupid? how noble of you. To bad your time in the army didn't teach you either humbleness or tactfulness.

First of all, if we WERE following things blindly like you so easily accuse, then acting like you have a stick up your ass isn't going to convince anyone that you are right. All it is going to do is make them think that you are an anal little prick who thinks he is better than everyone else.

Knowledge is to be shared Zombie. Dont attack someone because they may not know the same thing as you. Doing that just proves you to be as ignorant as the next person.

Get off your fucking superiority complex man. Quit wallowing in glory of your self knowledge. You are no better than anyone else in here. Noone can be an expert on everything. You would be best off remembering that.

Damn, this kinda sucks. I've been trying to start a scuffle for two days now - where have you folks been? I guess that's what happens when I stop by on a holiday weekend.

Ah well, maybe I'll catch you next time.

Cruise, you're way too nice to my online persona. I come here to kick up dust, stick my tongue out at people, and piss folks off enough for a hot debate. You can be really mean to me, I won't be offended. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/smile.gif
