Muddy, good to see you my friend. :)

Life in Zion has been going great. Been busy as hell but that's not necessarily a bad thing, right?

The two minute drill on Cruise:
Down 200 pounds
Full time girlfriend for about 8 months now
Going back to college for my Business Management degree
Store doing great
Family doing great
Life is great :D

You?

Do I know you? And can your son come over and install some new brake pads on my truck?

You've got a beautiful family. Well done.

If I were a betting man, and I am, I'd say the two have you right where they want you.

Just a brake pad replacement? He could but we don't do general repair. If you'd like to upgrade your brakes to some four piston calipers, rear disk brake conversion with drilled and slotted rotors, I'll let you talk to him. :)

And thanks..............Ditto. :)

Hi Mudflap. Good to see you doing Ok. We're all good over here - still bitching about wanting to move overseas (probably never happen though). Left the govt job, working as a personal injury lawyer now (which is sssooooo different in NZ and not even remotely ambulance chaser like). It's pretty cool and the money is good. Current plan is to learn as much as possible from my boss then open my own practice and become a trillionaire - we'll see though. Tarryn is freaking huge and has to stoop to give me a cuddle - I'm such a proud mummy! Miss you.

Yay Muffy!

Thanks for the update. I come in contact with defense lawyers (not necessarily personal injury) daily and most are damn fine people. Then again, I don't have to conduct business with them as a client, defendant, plantiff, respondent, peppermint, etc., so I can afford to be amiable with them.

I have noticed that all seem to be genetically descended from sharks and they're very fun to watch when they smell blood in the water.

How many rows of teeth do you have, btw?

6 :D

There's always blood in the water.

People don't pay me to be nice, and you got to admit, I'm really good at being a total bitch. Jokes aside though, it's very rewarding, a lot of it is just protecting the weak and helpless - one of my clients is an 8 year old kid who is blind, dumb, spastic, in a wheelchair, and will never, ever be able to look after himself. Getting him enough money to ensure he will always be cared for gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does a peace officer do? We don't have them in NZ - is that like a Justice of the Peace or a bailiff or what?

Peace Officer is Texan for police officer. I can work for any non-federal law enforcement agency in the state. I'm employed by the county's sheriff office as a deputy and bailiff assigned to one of the county courts at law. County courts at law can handle misdemeanor cases, state jail felonies, and third degree felonies, but the district courts handle all state jail felonies, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st degree felonies and Capital offenses, leaving only misdemeanor and civil cases for the county courts at law to deal with. I don't know why that is and have never bothered to ask since I couldn't give a damn. My judge also exclusively handles all the county's juvenile cases. These offenders are age 10 to 17 when charged with whatever offense, misdemeanor or felony.

Justices of the Peace are elected judges that can only preside over class C misdemeanors. They're also considered magistrates and can set bonds for people arrested and charged with offenses that necessitate such. They can perform marriages too.

County court at law judges and state district court judges are also elected, serve as magistrates, and sometimes marry people too, but they mostly preside over the criminal and civil matters that JP's aren't authorized to handle.

Simple, eh?

No, sounds quite interesting though. I'd imagine it has its stressful moments too though. I don't think I'll ever understand the american system.

I just woke up from a long dream about Mudflap and I buying this huge log cabin. We had hundreds of wooded acres and had big happy parties around bonfires.

So I come here, and there he is.
