Well, not entirely about THT - so that ought to be a good thing, right? Yeah. Yeehaw.

Then again, the state of the human condition can be equally offensive.

Just woke up from one helluva bad dream - and - while admittedly drunk during such, I think it's poignant.

Let's combine all my crap into one post.

First, kids are going to war with semi-automatic, fully-automatic, and selectable type weapons. In short terms, we'll entrust machine guns to 20 year olds that'll go kill The Enemy, Such As He Is - but when Jim Bob or Jose Mendoza comes home - well...umm...yer dangerous. None of that.

We're telling these kids that big, EEEEVIL machineguns and their ilk are okay until it all lands on our shores? Since 1986 and earlier it has been the rule that you can't buy something that keeps going BANG! if you hold the trigger down.

These people, at minimum, have the training and discipline necessary to use this big, bad, evil stuff. And even they're fucked over.

" The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

In really simple terms - just because they say Rabbits are Good! doesn't fucking mean they say All Rabbits Is BAD!

That's been ignored. Lots of things got ignored for the sake of political expediency!

Why can't someone who's been in the military and used these evil things own one now? Why are VA hospitals iffy? What is with the doubletalk involved?

Sounds like a ploy to avoid insurrection and distaste at whatever cost. It won't work. Military suggests semi-auto all the time as a means to get effective ammo-control, as proven in WWII - people will shoot more accurately instead of providing suppressing fire.

I'm pretty sure "Shall not be infringed" and that disparagement bit kinda applies to all of us. So why are we letting mission creep dictate and ruin our rights - expediency?

What a fucking mess. I will happily blame you and your forebears for this one - because you people let it happen. Y'all had freedom in such situations, and you let it go. If *I* yell about it, I am a youthful idiot that oughta conform faster.

Second complaint - to steal from American Beauty - we used to be pals. What happened? I recall a day when we all bullshitted amongst ourselves, argued like mad when necessary, and lived our lives with that much more enthusiasm. What the hell caused this? And why is it something we can never, ever go back to?

For fuck's sake, why does it seem like we all tolerate each other at best? That's frightening.

I remember better days - someone explain why it's impossible and apparently stupid now.



And what the fuck will kids of *my* generation ask?

1) Ownership of military weapons is a collective right under the Second Amendment, not an individual right.
2) That ownership must be related to a militia.
3) Membership in a private militia is not sufficient to justify ownership of military weapons.

Seeing idiocy yet? Joining the Reserve is essentially joining the Army, Marines, or simlar forces.

They are citizens that can until they come home - aren't such people supposed to defend us from gov't excess?

Or something? Why are they told to behave?

God, existence, and the fuckin Aether gave us the right to defend ourselves - with whatever the hell we can get our hands on. The wording is particularly archaic - but do you want to die because someone else really, really desires to kill you for your TV?

A fundamental aspect of our Constitution is that we, as citizens, ought to be able to overthrow, murder, torture, abuse, and bloody tar and feather our so-called betters upon real, dangerous abuses by them.

If in significant numbers or with significant enough force they try to usurp our rights and abilities for their own gain; and apply their successes - we go and we kill them, harass them, and generally engage in guerrilla warfare. Period. Die, or run like hell. To understand this, you've really gotta look at the life and times from around the 1830's back. Smart people knew this in the 1700's - why the hell aren't you getting it?

It's a mess, and your education is up to you, and I sure as fuck don't get it all myself. But a brief study will give you a foundation for this house yer building.

Studied your own history, unvarnished? :) Had a study of American history, as it was formed initially? Interesting. Damned different than what we've got - and all too often illegal. They tried like hell to prevent that. Ultimately, tho...you don't like 'em - shoot en masse.

Generally speaking - would you commit all of Canada's finances to a war?

What about for good reasons - saving people, for fuck's sake?

Us Americans - give or take a large amount of idiocy - we rely on the ability to utterly shoot the idiots in office and start over. Lots of rights and responsibilities involved with that.

In simple terms - we ought to be able to destroy our government and start over. Regardless of any possible arguments involved.

In terms applicable to you - the war effort is hard - we suggest you make lots of soldiers welcome. Or else. No "or else" - wartime!

Look at our silly and useless Constitution. It'll start making sense.
