A South Side man who was emasculated by a woman he allegedly tried to rape has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, according to police.

About 3 a.m. today, Erik Williams, 21, of the 3600 block of South Michigan Avenue, allegedly accosted a 42-year-old woman on that same block and ordered her to perform a sex act on him, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Sgt. Robert Cargie.

The woman then bit off the man's testicle<FONT COLOR="yellow">s</FONT c>, and, about a half hour later, the woman walked into police headquarters, 3510 S. Michigan Ave., and turned the severed body part<FONT COLOR="yellow">s</FONT c> over to police officers, said Chicago News Affairs Sgt. Thomas Donegan.

At 3:40 a.m., Williams arrived at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center with matching injuries, Donegan said.

He was in fair condition following surgery, according to hospital spokeswoman Sandra Wilks. Doctors were unable to reattach the body part<FONT COLOR="yellow">s</FONT c>, and <FONT COLOR="yellow">the man is now sterile</FONT c>, she said.
