My neighbours must be the most inconciderate people I've ever met. Definetly, the worst neighbours ever.:icon_piss

Does any one know of any way, or have a link with effective ways to get rid of the odor of dog pee (female/male) from stones and siding, that will not stain or destroy both?

Superglue your nostrils shut.

Um, no.

I don't smell it - other dogs to and then they pee on my house and brickwork.

Anyone else?

Try using a power washer. Maybe a very mild soap solution mixed in.

Maybe vinegar? I think vinegar probably helps more then anything for getting the smell out and it shouldn't stain. Another thought would be baking soda mixed with water.

Liquid bleach and water mix. Pour contents into a lawn (weed) sprayer and have a go with it.

ASK Cruise! I remember seeing something in his type of stores that is a deterrant for dogs.

But, yeah, I agree with the bleach idea, even if it is fairly mild, it should help reduce the smell. To you and the dogs.

What kind of stone do you have? What kind of siding?

Or- Get a very big dog to stand guard?

Good Luck.

wouldn't the bleach ruin my lawn if it got on it?

Vinegar and water sounds good though.

What if I mix the vinegar with the baking soda??

bleach and many other things would. hence the suggestion of mild amount of soap.

dog piss isn't going to be *that* strong - i figure a combination of soap and high pressure water should deodorize and remove it all enough to avoid dogs trying to re-mark territory.

problem with vinegar/baking soda is that it's better suited to absorbent materials; tis why you use it on carpet and the like, as it has enough time to react completely with the shite.

i doubt it'd work nearly as well on stones and/or siding...not to mention that vinegar will be useless once you've diluted it to any substantial degree, and baking soda in the quantities required is probably about as pointless.

nope, i suggest good ol' soap, and lots and lots of water. average dish soap should work adequately.

What's wrong with dogs?

Piss has to be better for your lawn then all that other household junk. Au naturelle baby! If they're shittin' on your lawn you probably don't like that. But I gotta say, good ol' poop is good for the earth.

dog piss frequently contains large amounts of nitrogen, which kills grass.

Well, I'm going to try the pressure washer/mild soap idea first and monitor that. I'd rather go that way first, since hubby owns a pressure washer. Worse comes to worse, I go to Petcetra/Petland/PetSmart and buy a deterrent like what Mae was talking about.

Then, I'll buy a little BB gun and shoot the fuckers!

Just piss in a quart jar, pour it in a spray bottle, go out and give each marking "post" a couple good squirts. Dogs are very intimidated by that - I know it works because I've done it in the past.

Bleach, even when used in a highly potent mix with water, will not hurt your lawn, or flowers or bushes, as long as you further dilute the vegetation shortly there after.

In my area with the weather and humidity as it usually is at certain times of the year, the number one reason pressure washing services are hired out is to remove the “green” or algae, or mold or whatever the hell it is that quickly forms/grows on vinyl siding and tin (metal buildings). The number one easiest way to remove this is not a pressure washer but to mix a potent blend of bleach and water into a garden sprayer and spray the “greenery”. The shit just runs off! After the initial application, a simple garden hose and water will finish it off and all is clean and beautiful once again.....with no pressure washing. I’ve done this many times and the building(s) were surrounded by flower beds, grass and or bushes. Not one wilt ever took place but I contribute this to the “watering down” process that came after the spraying of the mix.

I like Simon's idea too. I'm going to use these in a coordinated effort - including the bleach (if all else fails)

I'm determined to keep that dog from marking his territory - and the rest of the dogs in the area when their inconciderate owners let them do that too.

I've never actually tried Simon's idea, but wouldn't that make the dogs want to mark over the spot? To make sure it has "their" sent on it?
Or would they just be so intimidated by human pee?
As for the bleach idea, not sure if that really works well or not. It's great for killing the germs though. I use bleach here, because Bo Bo likes to mark his territory in certain parts of my house (hopefully Tuesday after getting fixed all that will stop) I bleach that area, but he goes right back to the exact same spot later. The vinegar mixture has seemed to work well on the furniture. He hasn't used that spot in a long time.
If Simon's idea works, I'd say it makes the most sense. If dogs are intimidated by human urine they might just stay away.

Human urine? Or male urine? Would being female negate the effectiveness?

Barbie

Why is it that female dog urine burns grass, and male dogs don't?

TRI SODIUM PHOSPHATE!

Failing that, I'm going with Torques idea (see: Lessons, Enough)
