What did I miss? I haven't posted in a while, been doing the odd bit of lurking but basically been too freaking busy (working 6 day weeks most of the time). Not that I'm any less busy at the moment but I came to the conclusion that if I don't start having more fun I'm going to go postal. Going postal when you work for a large government organisation can have serious ramifications :)

What's all the gossip? Why isn't Mac posting? Give me the readers digest version.

As for me, sadly, very little has happened during my absence. I'm moving onward and upward work wise - in the direction of elective surgery. Find out this week if it's official (I'm the preferred candidate at the moment so it's looking bloody likely)...so that should be lots of fun. Tarryn is now 10. Holy crap that makes me like really old. My best friend is pregnant so I am going to be a pseudo aunty (all hail the borg!). Andrew is still as fabulous as ever - he ran me a bubble bath on saturday night, got me a glass of bubbly and strawberries with chocolate dipping sauce, lit some aromatherapy candles and got me a trashy magazing to read while drinking bubbly and eating said strawberries...guys, take it from me, do this for your women, it was bloody wonderful. James (Tarryn's dad) has moved out of the country...again... he's living in Truro now (Cornwall, England), so that is a bit hard for the little fella but hopefully he'll be back at Christmas. My very scary brother phoned me up the other day from somewhere in between australia and papua new guinea - he wants to come visit *groan*. Any advice their would be gladly appreciated. My hair is a lot shorter (had to tame the wookie!) and as you know, my car is a fucking wreck. I'm currently driving the panel beaters complimentary car, a Toyota Cielo that stalls every time you change from reverse to drive, very embarassing. Our great big house is bursting at the seams with books, looks like we'll need a 5th bedroom for all the sodding books, but I have discovered a new love in Robert Rankin (damn funny). My gran has completely recovered from her quadruple bypass and aneurism zapping and brought a new car, a VW none the less (go super gran!). I'm contemplating going up to the North Island to see her at the end of the year, but as it is still cheaper to go to Australia, I may not. Petrol is about $1.50 a ltr. OH MY FUCKING CHRIST - what the hell happened? Someone explain the petrol prices to me please. I won the social club raffle at work the other day and got a whole bunch of petrol vouchers, bloody good prize eh? Dunedin now has an international airport, so none of you have an excuse not to come visit any more damnit!

Ok, I'm done. Update me.

I just got back from an Asylumnations mini-pissup in Niagara Falls. Took the train to South Bend, Indianas, where Mattdk picked me up on thursdfay evening last. Then he, his friend Pete, and I drove to NF. There we met CRSR, Rokkr, Smug Git. A good time was had by all, even CRSR, who spent Saturday morning in the custody of the NF cops for being drunk and disorderly.

Did the Maid of the Mist boat ride up the gorge to the base of Horseshoe falls on Saturday afternoon, then Sunday Matt, Pete, and I drove back to Indiana. Caught the train yesterday morning, got home about 2 hours ago. Sleeping on trains is nearly impossible, so I'm damned well exhausted.

Rest up, Simon. I have some thoughts to throw at you.

Muffy, I'm hoping with all my heart that you don't get excised. Also, your "Tips from Andrew" are wonderful but only to a point. Now that his romantic actions have been publicised, those of us with mates reading here will have to come up with equally romantic alternatives that might now seem to be mindless gestures. I, for one, will NOT begin reading COSMOPOLITAN for ideas regarding one-upmanship.

As for gossip, I can't help you. What's public is public and you find out the same way I do. Only, I don't chat or IM much so you may be "up to speed" even as I write this.

I WILL mention that Simon is gonna owe me $5US because of Teh Hat-Hat but where's the fun in reading a digest when it's right there in front of you?

I can first-hand a few things, though...

Holly and Nathan are going to the same school and I'll be damned if she isn't acting like a little mother.
Teachers and staff alike tell us that their personalities draw smiles from all angles. Yap yap yap and I'll save it for another thread.

The first person to draw a negative conclusion from this post gets a prize :)

The teachers at the school will be so focused on your angels, smiling at them, beaming at them, and generally getting warm fuzzies, that they won't see the "Wet Floor" sign...

..And that's how the math teacher spent three months in twin arm casts. But math was way more fun after that.

Actually it's a mixture of beaming and confusion.

Chip off the ol block ;)

Haha! Excellent. Wish I was there.

Well damn! I didn't get the job. Came as quite a shock. It was an internal position with a different team, and my current manager wouldn't let me go. %$#@!!! Nothing liked getting assraped by your own manager to make you feel negative about work! So...I applied for another job outside the Corporation, if I get that they can go fuck themselves.
