What are the benefits to polygamy??

In utah, certain mormon settlements practice it against the law. Horrific conditions.

First of all almost the entire community survives on welfare because the men can't support their MANY wives. Abuse, rape, incest, and of course forced marriages are just a way of life in these situations and the men are rarely prosecuted because they hide behind 'religious freedom http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif'

this pisses me off but my more pressing question is what in the hell is the point in polygamy??

i can understand a need to procreate with many people, that makes sense. But it is a religious practice in most places, and since RW won our little argument on monogamy http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif claiming that intellect shall override hormonal and survival instincts (religion being somewhat intellectual) what is the basis for polygamy?

Getting to fuck multiple chicks? And having both a beer bitch AND a food bitch. Specialization means increased efficiency, y0.

You have gay people, you have bi people, you have asexuals, and you also have polyamourous people. The point of polygamy is so that these people are not denied the opportunaty to partake in the marital union without doing so compromising their sexuality.

if my husband wanted to marry someone else.. id kik his balls into his guts...possibly the many wives things stems from the fact that women were property at one time.. they were useless creatures.. look at how sexist the bible is.. *and you all KNOW im not a feminazis* but its true... the more wives you had.. the wealthier you were.. people just take advantage of that fact in the modern world.. and use religion an excuse to have many wives.. i know several mormon families who contain one mother and one father.. but a WHOLE lot of kids..

in a nutshell.. rednecks who want to have more women to abuse and fuck *of course there are exceptions to this nutshell everyone.. there od exist ppl who are just stupid enough to follow the bible word for word.. how convienent for god to give us a handbook for life..*

i think back in the day, there were no women than men so polygomy was accepted. At least that's what some Mormon guy told me. i think it's still bullshit though.

Actually polygamy started when the Mormons were persecuted and fled across the country. During the trek, most of the men died. The men who lived, married the widows of those fallen by the wayside. Enter John Smith, Brigham Young and others. Those lucky SOB's survived and had whatever they desired for. Brigham Young had, if I remember right, 42 wives by the time they found Utah.

As for making polygamy a religious practice...that was not the original intention. Polygamy, as related to the Bible in general, are the same. They both were for specific purposes but those purposes have either been over now for hundreds of years or their true meaning has been consciously forgotten in favor of conversion and obscurity.

That is not to say I am for or against polygamy. I am neither. There "is" a thing called consenting adults. If women want to share one man, go right ahead, don't let me get in your way. And, if a man wishes to have many wives, be my guest. But, if you do decide to do it, you had better buy alot of stock in whatever pharmacutical company that makes Viagra. You will probably need it.

I just got thinking, what is the average for engagement rings? 2 grand or so? Suppose to say that Brigham Young was alive today, 42 wives...? talk about a stack of divorce papers.

And no, I am not Mormon. I just have studied it.

Well i personally would not understand why a woman would consent to her husband having other wives but, whatever. if they're all happy, let them be. Or something.

in these places the woman are raised in subservience.. very little 'modern' thinking is available

you have been raised to be assertive for your rights, they have not.. through beatings, incest, and other misogynist tactics they are treated as less than people.

be thankful and wary
