mine suck. just curious as to how you people learned to manage your money, or if you even learned at all.

<FONT COLOR="purple">hmmm...the whole budgeting thing has always come pretty naturally for me. something about numbers just clicks in my mind. (not to say that i haven't squandered a good deal of cash & visited the pawn shop a time or two! http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif )

it helps me to actually write out a budget...
you know, how much coming in vs how much necessary to spend and how much left over. its really quite simple in theory - there's just the matter of sticking to it.

depends on how your mind works as to what will work for you. any help?

good luck.

The 'I may get run over by a bus tomorrow' philosophy for way of life is pretty disasterous financially wise, but loads of fun.

Hock shops, that brings back memories.

Oh 'fuck a gig!', race around to get enough money to get my guitar out of the hock, play the gig, hock the guitar again to pay back my friends.

Any money earned for the gig wouldn't even come close to paying the interest.

Then again I've lost money busking, borrow a guitar, busk for three hours, make a buck and have to spend three on broken guitar strings.

A financial wizard is me not.

hmm..I may be able to help here....I used to be really bad with money. Then, I buckled down, opened a savings account, and started putting money into..it is hard at first not to just do a quick transfer or two via the net to my checking account, but it is getting better.

I had a second job for a while, and I was making good money with both combined, so I was able to save and spend lots of money, and it was hard once I quit that job to start saving again, but I have been able to do it.

Just work hard at it. If you smoke, buy them by the carton. It is cheaper. (of course, you COULD always quit http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/smile.gif) If you drink...well...buy from the beer store, you'll get ripped off otherwise. If you like to eat out alot. Quit. If you spend lots of money on a girlfriend/boyfriend...well..either break up with them or let them know what is up.

Never, EVER, EVER, get credit cards, cause you WILL wind up buying something completely useless with them. It is unavoidable. And keep your bills to what is necessary. There is no reason to have 300 features on your phone service, when you use 1 or 2. and do you really need 512 + megs of memory? Unless you work for Lucas Entertainment designing Star Wars, you dont.

"of course, that is just my opinion, I could be wrong"
