So I took a trip to Maine this last weekend to see my friend Dawna. She graduated from the nursing program at Southern Maine University. It was the first time I'd been to Maine or that far up the east coast, for that matter.

It was purdy. I took a few pictures that I thought I'd share with you.

Sunset at Old Orchard beach.

The skiffs at Old Orchard Beach. Apparently nobody worries about theft of any kind in Maine. Nobody locks their houses or cars and fishing equipment is left everywhere.

This is the Portland Head Lights lighthouse. I was kind of bummed out that it was under construction as this was my first time seeing a lighthouse. This is one of the bigger and nicer ones in the area.

Lots of granite. Thought this was kind of a cool picture. It was taken at Camp Ellis which seems to be a little bit more of a "local" type of beach area.

Now I know why the President spends so damned much time at Kennebunkport. It was absolutely awesome out there. I was amazed that the presidential camp was so open and accessible. Maybe the snipers were in the trees behind me.

This place was in Portland, right on the water. I got a kick out of the sign. I sat there for about an hour watching them offload all kinds of seafood. Ever seen a monk fish? Ugliest creature ever. Should have gotten a picture.

Dawna and myself on the bridge between lower Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. She was a gracious host and made a great tour guide.

The trip was wonderful. It was great to see my friend again and spend some time with her and her daughter. I ate more fresh seafood than any one person should and due to its proximity to the ocean, it was cheap. ( 1 1/2 lb. lobster and a bucket of steamers under $24 bucks. ) If any of you have been to Maine you can attest to its beauty and simpleness. I was amazed at how old everything was in contrast to where I live. ( Most buildings in Saco were older than the entire State I live in.) The people are nice, friendly and beyond accomodating. They still say please, thank you and hello. They are not in a hurry and life revolves around the ocean and what it provides. I could see why a person would want to live there.

I'll be the first to point out that your guide is attractive. (Someone was bound to bring it up) ;)

Your weekend, more so. There are images between the snapshots that can't be developed using current technology.

Thanks for taking us along.

We perceptive folks knew that well before he ever went to Maine.
