I sometimes, all too often, take little things for granted…….like something as simple as a beach. EA just recently posted a pic of himself at such a thing in which he has never seen before and experienced for the first time.

Yesterday, April 9, 2005, I took a 27 year old woman and a 5 ˝ year old little girl to Myrtle Beach SC to see and experience “the beach” and for the first time in their lives. Outside temp was roughly 65 degrees and overcast with a 10 to 15 mile an hour mind with a full chill. Water temps were in the 50’s. To some, none of that matters. :)

"their"

The first time I ever saw the ocean was in Myrtle Beach. Right behind Castaways.

Except it was alot colder, at night, and I was on alot of LSD. Good times.

I visit the ocean every chance I get. I tell you, there's something soothing about the ocean.

Good play, Billy. Good play.

10 to 15 mile an hour mind with a full chill

Something tells me the mind was going a lot faster than that.

"Full chill"? Sure looks like it.

Well it's about time someone took them to the beach! Everyone should go to the beach, it should be mandatory. I'd shrivel up and die if I had to move away from the beach. I've lived close to the ocean all my life and get cranky if I don't get sand between my toes on a regular basis.

Good on ya billy.

Muffy, I got an e-mail from some buddies of mine who are down in New Zealand and from I got from some of the monument pictures I saw, New Zealand has some heritage from all the way up here in Nova Scotia.

Thought I'd mention that 'cause ya never mentioned it, or just didn't know it.

The town (if you could call it that) I grew up in (Waipu) was settled by the Nova Scotians. My family owns the land on which the pohutukawa tree grows which they spent their first night in NZ under. They hold highland games there every year and throw gumboots and blocks of wood and sheep and christ knows what else! It was settled by the Reverend Norman McLeod who was a right old bugger. He took a baby off a young lass who got pregnant outside of wedlock, locked her in her room and she went mad. He was still practicing the art of cutting the hands off theives a long time after it was banned elsewhere...etc. My grandfather spoke gaelic. blah blah blah.

I know my local history quite well. I just never brought it up as I didn't think it terribly interesting. I also have a great aunt from america...(see, it just doesn't sound that exciting).

Getting back on topic……..

This is the short version of a compilation of the day (20 megs). The quality has been lessoned due to compression and server handling but its cute enough I guess. I dig it anywayz and it is/was my first attempt at video creating and editing and stuff. I’m getting better, be patient. More to come in time.

Great little video. Both your ladies obviously had a great time, Billy.

Reminds me of taking my Aunt Faye (age 63) and Uncle Pete (age 70) to the Oregon coast in 1976. First time Pete had ever been more then 150 miles from Oklahoma City in his life. When we drove out onto the beach and he got out of the car to look at the Pacific, the expression on his face was priceless. When asked what he thought, he said "Sonofabitch, there cannot be that much water!"
