Woman shot man in self-defense
SALT LAKE CITY -- Prosecutors say no charges will be filed against a woman who shot and killed her former boyfriend last week as he tried to break into her home.
Glen Snyder, 35, was killed after he kicked in the front door of an apartment in Murray.
The man's 36-year-old former girlfriend admitted to firing the single shot that struck Snyder in the head.
The woman's actions were protected under the state "defense of habitation" statute, which allows residents to defend their homes against violent attack or if they feel threatened with personal violence, said Kent Morgan, spokesman for the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.
