Now, granted, I tell all this from my POV only and I don't know if there were any other variables but I have noticed that many people seem uninterested in knowing you as a person until they know something BAD about you. They need to know your problems. Maybe they want to know you are human or maybe they just want to feel better about themselves through comparison. They just file away some confession of yours so they can always say "Hey, at least I'm not that bad!"

They say "Confession is good for the soul."

But they never tell you whose soul, do they?

First off, as always, very good read.

I don't believe that all people seem uninterested in knowing you as a person until they know something bad about that person. I think the hesitation to commit to a new friendship or "get involved" is because those people may feel that you don't want them to. If you're not comfortable enough to let them know anything personal about yourself, then they might be "business only" - or it could be, they relate. Not so much as "he's worse off than me" but "wow, I'm not alone"

That's why I 'luv' you. I relate - I'm not alone.
