.Dog heating pad suspected cause of fire (http://www.troyrecord.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=13938101&BRD=1170&PAG=461&dept_id=7021&rfi=6)

LATHAM - Firefighters rescued dozens of dogs while fighting flames shooting from a Route 2 florist shop Wednesday night.
But despite heroic efforts to save all the dogs, about 17 died in the blaze.

Authorities stopped short of listing an official cause to the fire, but an electric heating pad for the dogs is the suspected cause, according to results of a preliminary investigation.
Latham Fire Chief Bill Childs and his crew responded around 9 p.m. to smoke and flames rising out of Lennon's Florist at 298 Troy-Schenectady Road to discover 41 dogs and puppies trapped inside the burning structure.
According to Childs, his crews were greeted by seven panicky dogs at the door as the flames roared out the back of the shop, but the fire fighters had no idea just how many more Great Danes, puppies and other dogs were still trapped inside, fighting for their lives.
While battling a fully involved blaze, firefighters rushed to save as many dogs as possible using whatever means necessary, including mouth-to-snout resuscitation, which was successful in reviving at least two dogs.
"My guys did a heck of a job saving as many dogs as possible, while still being able to hold the fire in check," said Childs. "Nobody really knew what they were getting into because we've never dealt with a fire that had so many animals involved."
The owners of the shop, who live upstairs, were not injured, but many of the dogs they breed were either lost or sent to a nearby animal emergency clinic and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands.
According to Colonie Police, the owner, Elaine Lennon, did have a breeders' license but the department's Animal Control unit will be looking into whether she might have had too many dogs at the premises.

My Compaq works fine. :(

Only problems I've had are with my laptop's screen.
