Bear with me, I just woke up..

A few billion years ago when the Earth was a primordial mess, life arose. Amino acids formed and combined. Be it by the Miller/Urey experiment or by some other means, it happened.

In a group of apes, a few different ones appeared. This group started using sticks and such to kill animals, had more intelligence than the others...and they learned to kill each other.

They rose to the top of the food chain using nothing but sheer wit. Other predators had natural weapons, i.e. their teeth, claws. Primitive humans had muscle and brain and not a whole hell of a lot of that.

We as a race grew and learned more. The discovery of fire was in essence the first scientific breakthrough humans have ever made.

And in all honesty, we have not evolved. We are still nothing more than civilized brutes. All the larger scientific discoveries made were during wars. Killing isn't abhorrable, it's a goddamned scientific process now.

Humans have done one thing only: destruction. We have as a race destroyed the ecosystem, ensured the poverty of nations, killed to get more for us instead of them....it still happens.

Very few people appreciate the processes that gave them life, let alone the shit that almost literally goes on in their own backyards. In Tennessee, there's a nuclear laboratory called Oak Ridge. Its purpose? Building warheads, in essence. The mindset of gov't officials that put this monstrosity on the face of the Earth? The perfect weapon. Kill more enemies. Well, I hate to break it to you, but the detonation of two of those "prefect weapons" decimated entire Japanese cities.

The enemy has a face, and it is your mother, your sister, your children...YOU. Ever take this into account when you say that we should kill all those motherfuckers and take over their country? Hell, let's make Iran a huge fucking parking lot. We'll give them the gift of AOL and microwaveable pizzas. Who cares that most of Iran is innocent people caught up in wars propagated by their leaders, people trying to simply survive as others promote their own agendas.

Iran was simply an example - pull your head out of your ass, refrain from looking at the boob tube for 5 minutes and look at the world, you'll see it happening all over.

Fuck what happened with Hitler. Yeah, I said it. Why? It's still happening! Shit, Jews are killing each other, and telling the rest of the world to remember their plight in between murdering. Seems they should have learned something from that, but they didn't.

Nobody has learned a thing, and the same shit happens now that did when it was medieval times. Abuse of the world and everything in it continues. We as a race have doomed ourselves.

Yea!!!!

At least I am not the only cynic here.
That was a most excellent rant EA! While the basic concepts are true you took that one from logic to deep into the womb of emotion.

I for one enjoyed your diatribe. Keep them coming. http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

That one must have been brewing for quite some time. I might suggest a bran muffin.

DB, there's so much various shit in my head even I don't know at times. I just post as various subjects break to the surface.

GA..it's been a reality for many decades now. 'Fraid it's hard to break out of a downward spiral, and even harder when you're adding thrust to go faster.

We had the potential to help out Somalia. We didn't.

We had the potential to help the millions of homeless people, citizens of the supposedly great US of A.
We didn't.

We can stop all the bullshit that threatens us.
We don't.

Hope is good up to a point. Maybe shit will change. It's unlikely though, considering how in 100 years we have gotten worse as a race instead of better.

the downward spiral you describ is actually cetrifugal evolution. The further we are from the center the more g's we pull. It will seperate us. Something new will come out and move further from the center as it has through all that war and destruction you just described. We're not going faster, we're going farther.

Good ol Mother Earth is a lot tougher than you give her credit for.

A comet hit the earth with more force than all of the nuclear weapons ever built. Life went on. We are proof life will go on. There are plenty of alarmist myths about the ozone layer and global warming, pollution etc... They are spawned from a small group of people's agenda. The same people that told us in the 70's that there would be no oil by 1990. The same people whom told us pollution would be so bad by 1985 that all humans would be wearing gas masks. This was the popular theme you saw on television. It was even in our text books in school, pictures of children going to school, a man walking his dog etc... all wearing gas masks. We have not slowed consumption at all and none of those predictions came true. All they did was make it possible to charge $2.50 a gallon for gas in 1972 the equivalent to about $5 a gallon now. The same bullshit is still being spewed and we will soon be paying $3.00 a gallon for gas during this next fake "Energy Crisis".
I agree that the population is growing too fast. It will slow down. People don't change unless change will benefit them personally. When heat gets expensive we turn down the thermostat a few degrees. We will spring back to center but only after the rubber band stretches enough to restrain us.
You can't apply emotion to mathematics and expect to come up with the truth.

It builds up. I'm not validating their theories, just making a point. You can't continually abuse anything and expect it to remain useful.

And yes, you can apply emotion to mathematics and expect to come up with the truth... http://www.thehypertribe.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

so right...She will not let us eliminate Her. we may be the bane of earth's very existence & all too rapidly ensuring the destruction of Her precious body...but will inevitably kill off ourselves before irreparable damage is done to Mother Earth.

i, too, believe in hope, in the possiblity that we shall rise from our apathy and affect change, start a revolution...

when, where, how it will begin? perhaps it already has...in the questions we raise, in the path we follow, in the heart, mind & spirit of the individual.

may i suggest a reading of Ishmael by Daniel Quinn? tackles very ideas that escape artist has brought to light...and offers a new direction, the root from which this revolution must grow.

And that fucks with me more than any of the fucked up things we have done as a race, which is pretty bad. it seems perfectly natural to people that we belong on this big rock, they just want a house with two cars two kids and a dog. I don't know if i could bring offspring into an existance that I myself did not fully understand.

Whats up with this rock? This rock spinning around this giant ball of gas? This giant ball of gas moving in a outward sprial from a "spot." I don't think I'll ever be able to sleep again.
